Event Breakdown:
For the past few years, the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education has sponsored a free 2-day Summer Institute called Totally Terrific Teaching Techniques & Technology Tools (T6). They reached out to Eventzee with the hopes of attracting more participants as well as to increase the level of participation through use of mobile tech. Using strategically played QR code clues, the event drove player traffic to various areas of the conference and encouraged interaction.

“It was a total success! The scavenger hunt coupled with the chance to win prizes created an enjoyable experience for our participants. They had a wonderful time and enjoyed using the leaderboard feature so that they could see where they stood at any time. The way that the Eventzee admin portal is set up, made it really easy for the facilitators. - #ThrowbackThursday – Share a past pic in a swimsuit.
- All Equinoxes are Not Created Equal – The Spring Equinox was March 20th, so creatively represent the astronomical event.
- Beautiful Bonnet – Get creative and make and model a spring-themed bonnet
- Caped Crusader or Dark Knight? – This week is the release of a movie depicting a battle between two pop culture icons. Choose your side and creatively represent your choice.
- Cellular City – Take a photo of your cellphone provider’s storefront.
- Crop Top – Take a photo of a newly harvested or planted crop.
- Eggscellent – Take a photo of a multicolored egg
- Fly The Coop – Take a photo of two different chicken based foods.
- Food Pyramid – Make a pyramid out of the 6 food groups. Each group must be represented.
- I Spy-P – Find the letter “P” formed in architecture, nature, etc.’
- National Puppy Day – Wednesday was National Puppy Day but every day is a good day to cuddle a puppy. Take a photo of a young dog.
- Pool Party – Take a photo of a billiards/pool table.
- Seeing Double – Find someone wearing the same colored shirt as you.
- Spring Broke – Prepare for vacation and take a photo of an airport or bus sign.
- Tracker – Find or create a unique foot (or hoof) print in the ground.

Scavenger hunts have always been a fun way to interact with others and support camaraderie, but we’ve moved past the limitations of pen and paper. Eventzee takes scavenger hunts to a whole new level by supporting worldwide events and new ways to interact with players. While Eventzee makes it easy to host your own scavenger hunt, it’s up to YOU to make it memorable. So if you’re considering putting on your own, here’s a few tips to get you started.
Themes can be a good way to make your Eventzee scavenger hunt more cohesive and unified for those involved. By creating clues around a common theme or subject you can encourage relevant creativity and also help your event stand out as a learning device.
Coming Up With A Theme
Themes can stem from anything involving your event or get-together. If you’re running an event for a special occasion such as a birthday party, baby shower, etc., your clues can take on those themes to encourage excitement and celebration. Hosting a birthday party for a friend? Make clues that represent your friends’ interests. Use a scavenger hunt for a wedding by hiding significant items that represent the happy couple.
If you’re running a more general event that isn’t tied directly to a specific theme, you can choose a more standard idea. Themes such as “Colors”, “Household Items”, or “Around Town” can be fun for pretty much anyone, anywhere, any time of year.
Clue Creation
With all Scavenger Hunt clues you want to make sure they are fun and engaging, while not being too specific and difficult to find. This is especially true for themed hunts as you want to maintain the goal of the theme along without becoming too abstract. When coming up with themed clues we suggest creating a web chart to help brainstorm ideas. This way you can start with your theme and expand upon ideas easily.
It’s also important to take into account that all the ideas you come up with have to be attainable in the real world as well. Since players will have to take photos of the clues in real life it has to be a somewhat attainable clue.

- From “12 Days of Christmas” to “Pre-Paddy’s Day”, holidays make great themes for Scavenger Hunts.
- We’ve seen teachers use literary themes like a “Hobbit Hunt” to encourage engagement in a classroom reader and “Pi Day” is always a big hit with math instructors.

Host: Troy Titans Football Club
Location: Troy, IL
Event Breakdown:
The Troy Titans football club used Eventzee for their annual fundraising scavenger hunt, turning away from traditional pencil and paper hunts. They directed teams of participants to different areas of town to participate in crazy tasks. Each team was given an inflatable “buddy” they had to include in their photos.

We used Eventzee for our annual Scavenger Hunt. As the coordinator, it saved me so much time in kicking off our event. As far as all of our volunteers, it saved us a ton of time at the end of our event. In the past we have had a roomful of people checking in with their scavenger hunt items – taking time and space. Using an app completely streamlined our process and helped me keep my sanity.
Our participants loved it! They didn’t like how they couldn’t rip apart pages of clues so everyone on the team could work simultaneously, but that was the point! Everyone enjoyed sharing pictures and videos. Many of our participants could have used better lighting on their phones but I think that is something they will have to work on.
Our Scavenger Hunt is a fun event for our club. We don’t make a lot of money from the event. We just want something easy and fun. Eventzee helped us with that. The app streamlined our event, saved us time and labor, and allowed more of our participants to have a good time.

- 12 Little Monkeys – Photo of a team member hanging upside down on monkey bars.
- America’s Got Talent – Take a picture of a teammate doing a headstand in a bar.
- Drink UP – Take a picture of entire team, including inflatable buddy, drinking from one drink (each person, including buddy, has own straw)
- Good Samaritan – Take a picture of a teammate pumping gas for someone while that person holds your inflatable.
- Just being helpful – Take a photo of at least two team members helping fold clothes in a public laundry mat.

- AR vs VR – Creatively represent which you prefer: Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality.
- Bracketology – It’s March Madness here in the states, so creatively represent which team you have going all the way! Don’t have a prefered team? Pick a random team in the NCAA Basketball Tournament and get creative.
- Chilly Treat – Take a photo at a unique shop that sells ice cream, snowcones, etc.
- Confetti Bomb – Gather some confetti and toss it in the air. Snap a quick pic before it all falls down!
- Counting Cards – Take a photo of a pack of collectable trading cards.
- Eclectic Appliances – Take a photo at a store that sells home appliances. Washers, ovens, etc. Your home doesn’t count.
- Googly Giggles – Put a pair of googly eyes on an inanimate object and bring it to life. Get creative!
- I Spy- O – Find the letter “O” formed in architecture, nature, etc
- I’m On A Boat – Take a photo on a boat. No boats near you? Get creative! A person must be on a boat, not just standing next to it.
- Meat Cute – Take a photo at a butcher shop or meat market.
- Shady Silouhettes – Take a photo of a person, animal or object’s silhouette.
- Sprinkled – Find something that has sprinkles on it.
- Stitchery – Take a photo of a unique quilt.
