This year, Eventzee teamed up with Chronogram Magazine for the annual “Chronogrammies” event to utilize Freeze Tag’s Eventzee scavenger hunt app platform.
The Chronogrammies is a yearly event which encourages people who live in and around Hudson Valley, NY to participate in nominating and voting for their favorite businesses of all kinds. With over 125 different nomination categories, participants could nominate any type of business, but also included some of the area’s top hits for favorite outdoor spots, local artists, restaurant wait staff, best schools, and more.
Once the initial nomination round had concluded, Chronogram utilized the Eventzee platform to create an immersive scavenger hunt app event which guided participants to Hudson Valley’s top Chronogrammies-nominated businesses during the 45-day voting period.
“We were really excited to be part of such a unique event like the Chronogrammies this year,” said Craig Holland, CEO of Freeze Tag. “One of the best ways to use the Eventzee platform is to support local and small businesses by encouraging locals and visitors to explore the community around them.”
The scavenger hunt featured photo challenges, which awarded players with points towards winning grand prizes like spa packages, dinners out at local favorite eateries, cases of wine, and more.
The winners of this year’s Chronogrammies were recently announced and will be posted on the Chronogram website later this month, followed by a blow-out bash celebration. Until then, anyone visiting Hudson Valley can still take a peek at all businesses and locations that were nominated during the event, and check out the best the area has to offer.

Eventzee’s white label program allows clients to build upon our foundation for an even more customizable app experience. Eventzee’s game designers and developers work together to craft a customized version of the app that represents the client’s complete brand identity. After it’s built, the app is available for download in the app store under the client’s name. The program is perfect for clients, like Jupiter, who dream about customers engaging with their brand, but have found it to be cost prohibitive to build a mobile app from scratch.
“Eventzee’s white label program was the perfect solution to what the Town of Jupiter was looking for in a digital platform,” said Shawn Reed, Community Relations Manager/PIO for the Town. “Eventzee was able to take our vision of the app and put it into a platform that was easy to use while maintaining the look and feel of our program.”
The Passport to Jupiter is a free event to join, and those who log 30 or more site visits, or receive 1500 points, within the list are awarded a participation badge. Participants can bring the virtual badge to Jupiter Town hall to claim a Jupiter prize pack! Summer is right around the corner! For many places, this can mean it’s time to get ready for an influx of tourists who are ready to start exploring again after a long winter.
If you’re looking for a way to get these folks engaged on the next level, look no further than hosting an event through the Eventzee scavenger hunt app. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Towns with an active tourist population benefit from having a tool that allows for engagement on another level. For many towns, this is often a passport-style scavenger hunt that guides people through the town’s hottest locations, including historical landmarks, small businesses, restaurants, and more.
Unlike holiday or festival events, season-long scavenger hunts can take the pressure off of the winning aspect of a game and allow people to really dig into all that the town has to offer. A lot of Eventzee clients enjoy offering a prize to all participants who finish the event in a given time period, such as a small gift card that benefits the downtown shops and restaurants.
Festivals or Fairs
Festivals and fairs of all kinds can benefit from a tool like a scavenger hunt app, like Eventzee. Guests may be overwhelmed with all that’s offered within a certain time period. With Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app, you can highlight local vendors and their offerings, get rid of any printed materials, and include a map.
In addition to being a great resource for attendees, you can allow specific vendors to purchase advertising space within in app, leaderboard style, to generate additional revenue for the event.
Small Business Saturdays
Small Business Saturday doesn’t just have to be confined to one day in November. Small business owners work hard every day of the year, and they should be appreciated for that!
Using Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app and the QR code feature, visitors can be encouraged to engage with small business shops and restaurants throughout a whole downtown area. This past year, Downtown Center Business Improvement District of LA hosted an event over multiple days to encourage visitors to visit specific parts of the city. The free event was created to encourage people to engage with local businesses, and participants were entered to win a nice prize at the end of the event!
Historical sites benefit from utilizing a scavenger hunt app like Eventzee because it makes it easy for people to learn and explore without needing the assistance of a tour guide. Especially with Covid restrictions, access to a pre-built educational event right from your smartphone can be key to making sure visitors have the best experience.
