Event: National Venturing Event – VenturingFest

Event Breakdown and Testimonial:

The Boy Scouts of America’s Venturing program used Eventzee at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia for our first ever National Venturing Event-Venturing Fest.

We wanted a way for our participants to be able to explore the Summit and interact with other participants and Summit staff members. A scavenger hunt was a great way for our participants to get out and explore the site as they looked for clues. We thought an electronic scavenger hunt would better meet the needs of our population, since most of our participants have smartphones and they are easy to carry around and would not get lost like a piece of paper. Our event was 6 days and our scavenger hunt lasted 5 days so we could announce the winner on the last night during our closing show.

Our participants LOVED the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt. We even had adult leaders join the fun and participate, too. This was our most popular event, with over 300 participants actively playing along. Throughout the week, countless youth and adults commented to our Venturing Fest staff about how much they loved the scavenger hunt and how much fun they were having. They equally liked the ability to explore the Summit and get to meet new people along the way, since some of our clues required participants to meet other participants and Summit staff members.

The app benefited our event in so many ways. First, it encouraged our participants to get out and explore the Summit. Many of them had never been there before, so this was a great way for them to see the different program areas. Secondly, this event encouraged interaction between our participants because they were working on clues together. This also gave our participants something to do in the evening when our program areas were closed, but, most of our participants were working on their scavenger hunt during all waking hours of the event. The scavenger hunt added another level of fun and interaction to our event, which was loved by all of our participants!

Event: SomethingInked Promo Seminar

Event Breakdown and Testimonial:

SomethingInked hosted their 5th Annual Promotional Products Seminar in Las Vegas and incorporated an Eventzee Scavenger Hunt for the first time this year. Centering around a conferencewide Summer Camp theme, the scavenger hunt encouraged players to interact with “bunkmates” as well as vendors and sponsors.

“Our attendees had a blast! It encouraged everyone to go to each booth and mingle more than they would have without the scavenger hunt. And, since it was heavily photo based, we have come away with a lot of great images of products and customers using products that we can use for marketing pieces throughout the year.

We also used it as a tool to find the most popular products from the trade show and to get people engaged with our social media platforms. Overall it was a really fun addition to the event and if we don’t do it again next year I’m sure we will have some complaints!

Ipadpalooza 2016 Wrap-Up

ClwkqciVYAAyMC_This past week, The Eventzee Team (Dylan & Cody) headed down to the wonderful City of Austin, Texas for the 5th Annual iPadPalooza Conference.

IPadPalooza, deemed more of a learning festival than a conference, celebrates the cultural-shift iPads and similar devices have brought about in the education world. The event focused on creativity, social collaboration, engagement, and the compelling ways schools have integrated iPads into their classrooms and beyond.

As a sponsor of this year’s iPadPalooza Conference, Eventzee’s mobile based scavenger hunt app was used to host and run the APPmazing Race each day throughout the conference. We had a ton of players and teams from across the country compete in a variety of tasks in order to gain points and hopefully win some pretty sweet prizes. The teams did not disappoint and came ready to play each day. From costumed crusaders to high flying daredevils, the APPmazing Race players were all in it to win it.

Check out the gallery of photos here, but be warned there are a TON so it may take some time to load.

When it was all said and done, many teams and individuals walked away with iPad Pros, iPad Mini’s, YETI Gear, and an assortment of other incredible prizes all put together by Carl Hooker and the iPadPalooza Team. The Eventzee Team may not have walked away with any physical prizes, but we had an amazing time at the conference. We really enjoyed meeting many new people, taking selfies/giving out high fives, and showing off our awesome suits!

We would like to thank all of you who stopped by our booth, participated in the APPmazing Race, and those of you who talked to us just to find out where we got our suits from. It was an amazing week and we can’t wait to attend future iPadPalooza events.

Eventzee Exposure: Scavenge Rowlett

Eventzee can be used for a number events, conferences and celebrations, but it can also be used to help great causes. Steve Walker is currently hosting a city-wide scavenger hunt to raise money to aid in relief efforts for the December 26, 2015 tornado that ravaged parts of North Texas, including Rowlett. We wanted to share his story and encourage anyone in the North Texas region to join the hunt and help out in the most fun way possible.

Purchase tickets at scavengerowlett.eventbrite.com.

What is Scavenge Rowlett?
Scavenge Rowlett is an urban scavenger hunt conducted on foot and with your smartphone. You’ll learn about our town, see some awesome landmarks and have a lot of fun solving clues and accomplishing missions that will move you up, up, up the leaderboard. Each mission will involve finding a person, place or thing, and taking some kind of photo. Many times it might be a selfie, and often a “silly-selfie” at that.

Why are you hosting this scavenger hunt?
There has never been a scavenger hunt of this type or scale in Rowlett. Our residents and people from other communities in the D/FW area need to know more about this up-and-coming town that’s about to take the Metroplex by storm with the $1 billion Crystal Lagoon named “Bayside” under construction and a major mixed-use development in the downtown area in the works as well.

What do you hope to accomplish with this event?
We want to get people out and about in the historic downtown Rowlett area, so they will learn a little history of the town and spend some time meeting other players. We want them to learn a little about using their smartphones and tablets as a way to get out and exercise rather than just playing couch-based video games. And we hope to start a semi-annual tradition of mobile-app-based scavenger hunts in Rowlett and neighboring towns like Rockwall, Garland, Mesquite and Wylie.

What is included in the ticket price?
Every player will receive a custom-designed t–shirt, a lanyard with their nametag and a Scavenge Rowlett/Rebuild Rowlett silicone wristband. There will also be a “swag-bag” full of goodies from our sponsors. Some of the swag-bag items might be important for some of the hunt’s missions, so it will be a string backpack that each player can easily carry on their backs in their quest to top the leaderboard.

Where will this money go?
All money raised by Scavenge Rowlett will go to the Rebuild Rowlett long-term recovery fund, which is administered by the Rowlett Chamber Foundation. This money is for long-term needs of residents arising from the December 26, 2015 tornado that ravaged parts of North Texas, including Rowlett. For more information visit www.rebuildrowlett.org.

What are the prizes?
First prize is $300 cash or gift card, TBD. Second prize is $200, Third prize is $100. We will have additional prizes for categories such as most creative photo, most people in a photo, or other categories to be determined prior to game day.

Where can I learn more?
Learn more at the Scavenge website www.scavengentx.com, or at the ticket purchase site scavengerowlett.eventbrite.com.

You can also find the event on Facebook.

Host: Troy Titans Football Club

Location: Troy, IL

Event Breakdown:

The Troy Titans football club used Eventzee for their annual fundraising scavenger hunt, turning away from traditional pencil and paper hunts. They directed teams of participants to different areas of town to participate in crazy tasks. Each team was given an inflatable “buddy” they had to include in their photos.

Testimonial:

We used Eventzee for our annual Scavenger Hunt. As the coordinator, it saved me so much time in kicking off our event. As far as all of our volunteers, it saved us a ton of time at the end of our event. In the past we have had a roomful of people checking in with their scavenger hunt items – taking time and space. Using an app completely streamlined our process and helped me keep my sanity.

Our participants loved it! They didn’t like how they couldn’t rip apart pages of clues so everyone on the team could work simultaneously, but that was the point! Everyone enjoyed sharing pictures and videos. Many of our participants could have used better lighting on their phones but I think that is something they will have to work on.

Our Scavenger Hunt is a fun event for our club. We don’t make a lot of money from the event. We just want something easy and fun. Eventzee helped us with that. The app streamlined our event, saved us time and labor, and allowed more of our participants to have a good time.

– Cindy Mahnesmith – Director of Fundraising, Troy Titans Football Club

Clue Examples:

  • 12 Little Monkeys – Photo of a team member hanging upside down on monkey bars.
  • America’s Got Talent – Take a picture of a teammate doing a headstand in a bar.
  • Drink UP – Take a picture of entire team, including inflatable buddy, drinking from one drink (each person, including buddy, has own straw)
  • Good Samaritan – Take a picture of a teammate pumping gas for someone while that person holds your inflatable.
  • Just being helpful – Take a photo of at least two team members helping fold clothes in a public laundry mat.

Eventzee Exposure: The Greene’s 45th Wedding Anniversary

In “Eventzee Exposure” we look at testimonials from happy clients who have hosted their own Scavenger Hunts. Our users’ experience is very important to us, so when things go off without a hitch we want to cheer about it. If you’d be interested in sharing your Eventzee experience please reach out to iloveyou@munzee.com!!

Host: Rance Greene created a scavenger hunt for his parents’ 45th wedding anniversary.

Event Breakdown:
As Rance’s parents approached their 45th Anniversary, he wanted to do something special for them: a scavenger hunt. Since they live on the East Coast and he lives in Texas, he planned on flying there incognito and planting physical clues. But then he attended a conference where Eventzee was hosting a scavenger hunt for all participants. “This,” he thought, “is the perfect solution!”

This is what he did to make the experience a smashing success.

From Rance:

Map out the route: In their early married years, my parents moved around quite a bit, so I mapped a route between these towns and collected information about each place, including memorable milestones in their lives (like their first home, the college where they met, the church where they were married, the hospital where my brother and I were born and many many more) and trivia specific to those locales and that time period (early 70’s). I titled the scavenger hunt, “The Early Years”.

Create the clues: I set up a combination of photo clues and QR Code clues that opened multiple choice trivia questions. I did this for a Practice Round (local photo clues and trivia questions about events in the early 70’s) and for the real deal scavenger hunt, in which they visited 3 towns to capture photo clues and answer trivia questions specific to each of those towns.

Put together a gift box: This was the tricky part. The gift box contained all of the instructions, the QR Code to join the Scavenger Hunt and lots of incentive prizes. As they accumulated points throughout the hunt, they were allowed to open gifts with their corresponding point value indicated on the outside of the gift or envelope.

The gifts or envelopes contained additional QR codes, Texas toffee, a homemade “hang-from-your-car-mirror” thing from the kids, a gift card to Arby’s for their favorite shake–jamocha!–and a host of other gifts. Most importantly, charms. At the very beginning of the scavenger hunt, they each opened a gift from me: a T-shirt for my Dad that read: “I love my awesome wife” and a charm bracelet for my mom (my wife’s idea). At each town they visited, another charm was given to my mom as a remembrance of the past and the current memories being made during the scavenger hunt. In every photo clue where my Dad was wearing the T-shirt, they earned extra points.

The gift box was tricky only because it took meticulous planning in ordering everything so that they received the next set of instructions at the appropriate time during the hunt. And to make the point value of the gifts attainable, but not too easy. I mailed the package off and hoped for the best!

What did they think of all of this? They loved it! And, being social creatures, made the hunt even more meaningful by going out of their way to connect with former acquaintances. They even met old classmates at the college basketball game they attended during the hunt. I took all of their photos from the hunt (and others they sent to me via text) and compiled them in a photo book, which I sent to my Mom for her January birthday. Now she has a charm bracelet and the photo album to remember this adventure by.

Recommendations if you decide to do this: Don’t do it completely alone. My Dad was in on the planning somewhat, in that he knew to be prepared for a road trip and, in general, where they would be on which day. Be ready to put some time into an endeavor like this. It takes lots of thought, but the outcome is terrific!
