Throughout the pandemic, our society has shifted to an all-new level of the virtual world. For most, that has meant learning how to work virtually, utilizing video conferencing and digital platforms to keep life on a somewhat normal schedule. Even youth have had to adapt to a hybrid world, with many having the option to attend classes online.
In a world that’s been packed with digital engagement in the last 2 years, it’s more important than ever for young people to take time to socialize with their peers any way possible. It can seem daunting to plan additional virtual activities that really engage participants on a different level, but here are a few ideas to get you started!
Let them create virtual teams:
If you’re utilizing a scavenger hunt platform to host an event from home, you can still allow youth to engage with one another recreationally. As an admin, you can either assign the teams or let players choose their own. This is great not just as an ice breaker, but also a way to encourage teamwork through digital means. They can give themselves a team name, photo, and description to kick off the fun!
Let them be the star of the show:
Youth love to tell stories, which is the perfect use of Eventzee’s video submission challenge feature. Admins can use the scavenger hunt app video challenge in a variety of ways, including read-alouds, skit performances, or even just to explain how they got the answer to a problem. Let them embrace their creativity using technology!
Use the scavenger hunt app to include learning in a fun way:
With so much digital presence, it’s really important to be innovative with the way learning takes place. Using Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app allows you to mix things up with 7 different challenge types – including photo, video, quiz, text, and more. Whether you want students to explore creativity with a photo or showcase their comprehension of specific materials with a quiz, Eventzee challenges can be fitted to a number of needs. This allows admins to design an event that works perfectly for their group of participants, no matter what type of event it may be!
Don’t let at-home participation stop the fun:
Most importantly, as we look to enter the third year of the pandemic, make sure to use a platform like Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app that allows your players to join the event at home or in person. This allows for anyone to participate, no matter what might be happening. Nothing will replace a 100% in-person event, but you can enhance your hybrid events to make the most for all attendees!

November is right around the corner, along with some of the busiest shopping days of the year! People around the country are encouraged to support their local shops and businesses by participating in Small Business Saturday.
One of the best ways to encourage locals and tourists to engage with these local businesses is by utilizing a scavenger hunt app platform to get people out and exploring their communities!
Not sure where to start? Here are some of our favorite ways to get you started!
QR Scanning
One way to get people browsing throughout the entire community is to create QR codes for participating shops, restaurants, and businesses. With the Eventzee scavenger hunt app, anyone participating in the event is encouraged to visit as many of these businesses as possible, scanning the unique QR code at each location and earning points.
Often, Eventzee clients will give their participants a certain number of QR codes to scan before they’re entered to win a prize. For example, Downtown Jacksonville, FL, who uses Eventzee for their Halloweek event, encourages all attendees to scan at least 10 QR codes into the Eventzee app, which rewards all who complete the task a $20 #DTJax e-Gift Card.
Utilizing Clues
In the true “scavenger hunt” fashion, give clues to participants for finding specific locations and businesses throughout town. At each location, organizers can choose whether to request a picture of the participants at the location, or personalized QR codes can be scanned.
Offer Discounts and Deals
Bring out the masses by offering deals, coupons, and discounts for those who choose to participate in the event! It’s likely that the small businesses will already be offering their own discounts during the busiest shopping season of the year, but additional offers will encourage people to join the event and visit more shops and businesses.
Join Forces!
Is your downtown area close to other downtowns? Join forces in a combined event that will get attendees not only exploring one downtown, but multiple! Having an event that encourages people to visit communities that are out of their norm is a great way to increase foot traffic and support for small, local businesses.
In an event that encourages people to make excursions to multiple locations, Loudoun Economic Development in Loudoun County, VA, utilized the Eventzee scavenger hunt app platform to get participants exploring over two dozen participating locations.
Whether you’re looking to engage your local community, increase your city’s tourism, or just provide a fun way for people to explore your town, Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app is the perfect solution for your Small Business Saturday event!

Is your team heading back to the office? Eventzee’s team building scavenger hunt app is the perfect tool to engage your employees, help them build bonds with each other, and become more ingrained in your company’s culture.
This may seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools and objectives, holding the perfect event can be a breeze. Our team has worked with brands and companies, both big and small and from a variety of different industries, to craft successful events that run via the Eventzee scavenger hunt app.
To give you a head start on designing your next event, we’ve put a list together of some of our favorite challenge ideas from past events that are sure to get your teams working together in no time!
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
- Start off easy! Have the group members gather together and take a selfie.
- Have players search for people who have similarities to themselves. This can be similarities in their names, outfits, interests, and more!
- Have a player tell a story to the group about something funny that happened to them recently! Submit a video of the story being told.
- Take two team members and have them pretend to switch the roles they perform for the company! They can submit photos of themselves pretending to do the other person’s job. This is perfect to get players more familiar with others who work in different departments!
- Have players get to know each other further by figuring out who’s worked at the company the longest! Snap a group picture of each team player holding up their start date in order of seniority.
Brain Teasers
- One of these things is not like the other! Give the team a group of photos that have one similarity. See if they can choose from a set of multiple choice answers to guess what the similarity is!
- Where, oh where, are you leading this team? Supply them with sneaky clues about a certain location in the office or campus and see if they can guess it right. Have them take a group selfie when they get there!
Get Active
- Have the team members snap a picture of them doing a fun yoga pose in front of a nearby landmark!
- Is it nice outside? Have the team members walk around outside and search for a tree that’s taller than the group’s tallest player!
- Best place for a quick workout? Have group members do jumping jacks in a specific location!
- Hide a QR code somewhere and the team a hint. The faster they find it, the more points they get!
- How many dancers are on the team? Have each team member think of a dance move, put them all together, and submit a video of the new routine!
Knowledge is Power
- Is there a mathlete on the team? Have them complete a math equation, you choose the difficulty! Make it extra intense by giving 100 points for the correct answer, but take away 25 points for every wrong answer they submit! Using Eventzee’s exclusive Quiz bonus timer, the fastest person with the correct answer will earn the most points!
- Do your employees know everyone in the company? Show them a photo of someone they may know and have them try to guess the person’s specific role from a few multiple choice answers!
- Does your company supply products with specific features? Give the team a hint and see if they can figure out which product you want them to guess!
Company Loyalty!
- Supply the team with some sidewalk chalk and have them draw the company logo. Hopefully this can be done by memory!
- Do you have company colors, a company mascot, or other branding that your colleagues should know? Have the teams jot it down!
- How well does the team know your company values? This task can be a multiple-choice answer where they have to choose the one that does not belong!
- Which team has the most company SWAG? Have them gather up their SWAG items and take a picture, then you can award bonus points to the group with the most impressive stack!
- Become part of the sales and marketing team! Have the players pick a product or service that your company provides and make a poem or song promoting it! Submit a video of the performance.

With vaccination levels on the rise, there’s no doubt that people have begun to travel more. In fact, studies show that over the fourth of July holiday this month, air travel levels reached record highs compared to pre-pandemic numbers.
While downtowns, both big and small, benefit from these visitors, making sure to engage those who choose to visit your destination is almost as important as getting them to come there in the first place. Small businesses, local restaurants, historic monuments and more, all benefit from an increase in activity.
SUMMERTIME ENGAGEMENT IN A COLLEGE TOWN
The city of Champaign, Illinois, for example, is an area that experiences the bustle of activity from its college-aged residents during the school year. During the summer-time, when those students travel home between semesters, there’s a brief lull in activity among the streets. However, with the local community coming out of the pandemic, Xander Hazel, Executive Director of Champaign Center Partnership, was eager to find a way to engage the local community and visitors to the area.
Their event, 13 Thursdays, allows businesses in the Champaign area to offer promotions and get people visiting local businesses and restaurants. Now hosted through the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt App, the Champaign Center Partnership team thrives in engaging their visitors and community.
“We highlighted all the business deals with QR code challenges (we call this the “business passport”) and included different types of challenges to provide fun scavenger hunt activities throughout the neighborhood,” said Hazel. “We also have giveaways throughout the summer to keep the momentum going and a grand prize at the end of the summer to encourage participation.”
The Eventzee scavenger hunt app is no doubt a fantastic tool when it comes to marketing your businesses and downtown areas, but it’s also a no-brainer when considering business logistics and environmental impacts.
PAST EXPERIENCE WITH PASSPORTS
Prior to using Eventzee, the Champaign Center Partnership team printed hundreds of business passports, or coupon books with advertisements, that businesses would physically stamp when people redeemed a deal. Oftentimes, people would forget their booklet and need a new one.
“We could give away 1,000 booklets, but we never knew how many people were actually using them,” Hazel said. “And then, we had to get the booklets back if people wanted to win prizes, so we had to take the extra step to establish drop-off locations. In 2019, the last year we did this promotion, we printed and distributed 1,000 booklets. Of those, we only got 6 booklets back.”
Previous paper passports used by Champaign, Illinois, for their 13 Thursday downtown engagement event.
SUCCESS WITH EVENTZEE SCAVENGER HUNT APP DIGITAL PASSPORT EVENTS
Champaign’s experience with Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app has been much more successful this year. On top of reducing production and operation expenses, organizers were able to easily track player participation, communicate with participants in real time, and more. This year’s 13 Thursdays event has already seen greatly increased activity with almost 300 participants, and the versatility of challenge types has offered participants even more ways to play.
Whether looking to set up a citywide self-guided tour, drive traffic to historical areas, or increase visitor engagement for local vendors and businesses, Eventzee has a solution. The Eventzee scavenger hunt app platform is free for participants to download, and has the most challenge types offered on the market, including QR code scanning, GPS, photo and video upload, and more. Every Eventzee event is customized to the organization or company branding.
The Eventzee platform allows businesses to create private scavenger hunts in physical places such as malls, tradeshows, company events or campuses to create immersive brand experiences. For more information about Eventzee, go to eventzeeapp.com or contact sales@eventzeeapp.com.
