LIBRARY UPLOAD OPTION:
Eventzee 1.6 features a new photo library upload option. You can now use photos you have taken in the past and upload them for certain photo scavenger hunt clues. This feature can be toggled on and off for each clue individually and is perfect for uploading screenshots of social media posts, throwback photos, etc.
LIMITLESS CLUE LENGTH (iOS):
Previously iOS devices limited clues to a few lines of text, but now clue descriptions can be as long as you like.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS FIX (Android Users):
It was brought to our attention that Android devices were not receiving push notifications, so this issue has been resolved in the latest update.
The new Library Upload option is mostly for private clients, but our weekend photo scavenger hunt will see clues from time to time use the option. For example our #ThrowbackThursday clues will now be upload available. So instead of taking a photo of a computer screen, you can upload the photo straight from the app. It is still important for the integrity of the game though that photos are taken in real time, so this upload option will not be available for all clues.

The goal of most scavenger hunts is to drive traffic to specific areas and get players to explore. While this holds true with Eventzee we also encourage our clients to use our tools educationally. QR Code hidden messages are perfect for driving traffic to specific areas and sharing information, history and more about the area the code is hidden in. Perfect for historical tours, campus explorations and more!
History Repeats Itself
Hidden Message tours are perfect for sharing information about the history of a city. Whether you post codes that link to the history of specific buildings in a historic downtown area, or you even about the business itself, Eventzee is perfect. These particular hunts are ideal for ongoing tours that people can join at any time and use to explore specific areas of their town or city.

Hidden Messages can also include links to outside information like youtube videos, photos, contact forms, etc. Link to a video to have a virtual tour guide on hand at all times! Mystery Scavenger Hunts
Want to get really creative? Use the hidden messages as descriptions for clue locations to make scavenger hunts more difficult and inspire critical thinking. Essentially label all your clues as Clue 1, Clue, Clue 2, Clue 3, etc. and only reveal clue locations upon finding and scanning the next code. Once they find the current code the message attached to it would be how players find the next clue. Make them really work for it!
Creating Hidden Message Clues
Setting up Hidden Message clues is easy. You’ll add QR Code clues like normal, but remember that your Clue Title and Description will lead the players to the hidden code. From there you’ll need to click the gear icon to enter the individual clue’s settings. Then simply click on the “Message” section and type in your block of text.
Remember, your event is what you make it, but Eventzee is here to make it as easy on you as possible. Take your event to the next level with our new Hidden Message feature!

You can see the number of events you have participated in on your in-app profile or the Eventzee Global leaderboard.
The in-app profile’s “ATTENDED” number is how many events you have earned points at. This number counts towards the Party Animal badges.

The best way to achieve these badges is to join the free Weekend Photo Scavenger Hunts hosted by Eventzee each weekend. These worldwide hunts run from Thursdays to Sundays with clues going live at 3 PM MHQ time. Your photo will be either approved or rejected and you will earn points based on your submissions.

Event Breakdown and Testimonial:
Our original plan was to enhance a 2015 summer teaching series about discovering the different attributes of God with another GPS game for our families. However, two days into the first Eventzee hunt in January, 2015, it was evident that Eventzee would have a greater impact on our church’s families for creating both excitement and participation. We held four week-long events centered around the past week’s teaching topic, with different game variations each week. Week 1 was a standard hunt based on God’s creative power. In Week 2 (God’s love) we added bonus points for creativity as well as the first photos submitted for each clue. Week 3 (God’s holiness) was a church competition depending on which side of the auditorium you usually sat – left or right. With Week 4 (God’s All-Knowing nature), we played with the standard Eventzee format based on time.
“Having played Eventzee myself, I knew how much fun the scavenger hunts could be, but I was completely blown away by quickly many of our church family got excited. During the four weeks there were over a hundred individuals and families who signed up to play. On the weeks when bonus points were awarded for the first photos on each clue, there was a mad rush at 6 AM by many to be the first! On one particular Sunday afternoon, I approved over 250 photos within the first thirty minutes of their release. During this time, someone called me the Puppet Master saying that I all I had to do was send out a short text message, and people started running!
For us as staff, however, the best parts of the hunts were watching our church family interact with other members who they might not have previously known, seeing fringe people get involved, and witnessing individual families spending memorable time with each other. As one individual said, “I have photos that I will cherish for the rest of my life that I never would have had without these hunts.”
The software was easy to use and the Eventzee Team was even better! Each week they answered my questions and did everything possible to make our hunts a success. They gave great insight and advice while letting us tailor the hunts to best fit our situation. We enjoyed the experience so much that we immediately purchased a year’s subscription. While we have used it to this point with smaller groups, we look forward to another big month of Eventzee this summer with our church family!”

Clue Examples:
Baby, it’s Hot Outside! – Take a pic of an outdoor thermometer (not a car) registering the actual temperature.
Magazine Gospel – Spell out the phrase “John 3:16” using only cut-out letters from a magazine or newspaper, and the letters can only be red.
Red and White Gingham – Whether alone or with friends, enjoy a picnic outdoors, with REAL food. (no computer pictures / live pictures only)
Dirt Dexterity – Build a sand castle or a mud pie, depending on your weather and/or location. (no computer pictures / live pictures only)
He’s Got the Whole World… – Show a pic of you holding a globe (25 pts). Earn bonus points for every additional globe and/or map in your (ONE PERSON) hands or arms (up to 5 extra, 5 pts each, max 25 add pts). To get all 50 points you need at least 1 globe and another 5 globes/maps. Make sure each map and/or globe is clearly visible.

For the past few years, the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education has sponsored a free 2-day Summer Institute called Totally Terrific Teaching Techniques & Technology Tools(T6). They reached out to Eventzee with the hopes of attracting more participants as well as to increase the level of participation through use of mobile tech. Using strategically played QR code clues, the event drove player traffic to various areas of the conference and encouraged interaction.

Themes can be a good way to make your Eventzee scavenger hunt more cohesive and unified for those involved. By creating clues around a common theme or subject you can encourage relevant creativity and also help your event stand out as a learning device.
Coming Up With A Theme Themes can stem from anything involving your event or get-together. If you’re running an event for a special occasion such as a birthday party, baby shower, etc., your clues can take on those themes to encourage excitement and celebration. Hosting a birthday party for a friend? Make clues that represent your friends’ interests. Use a scavenger hunt for a wedding by hiding significant items that represent the happy couple.
If you’re running a more general event that isn’t tied directly to a specific theme, you can choose a more standard idea. Themes such as “Colors”, “Household Items”, or “Around Town” can be fun for pretty much anyone, anywhere, any time of year.
Clue Creation With all Scavenger Hunt clues you want to make sure they are fun and engaging, while not being too specific and difficult to find. This is especially true for themed hunts as you want to maintain the goal of the theme along without becoming too abstract. When coming up with themed clues we suggest creating a web chart to help brainstorm ideas. This way you can start with your theme and expand upon ideas easily.
It’s also important to take into account that all the ideas you come up with have to be attainable in the real world as well. Since players will have to take photos of the clues in real life it has to be a somewhat attainable clue.
