Eventzee Exposure: Lone Star Bash

Eventzee Exposure: Lone Star Bash

“Howdy, Y’all!”

The 3rd annual MHQ Bash successfully two-stepped all over the Dallas Metroplex this weekend! We had Munzee and Eventzee players from all over the world join us for a weekend of scavenger hunts and Texas stereotypes. Needless to say it was a blast and we can’t wait to have everyone back again next year!

Here’s a run down of the four Eventzee hunts we ran for the weekend:

TX Weekend Hunt”

This Texas themed Scavenger Hunt was an exclusive event around the Dallas area to encourage Lone Star Bash attendees to check out some truly Texan topics in between all of the events!

Clue Examples:
BBQ – Take a photo of a barbecue restaurant. Hutchin’s in McKinney is pretty good, but certain MHQ staff members might have more divisive suggestions!
Prickly Pear – Take a photo of a cactus or something cactus themed!
Boot Scootin’ Boogie – Creatively represent doing a line dance with friends.

TX State Fair Hunt:

Attendees joined MHQ at the TX State Fair to kick off Lone Star Bash in style! This photo scavenger hunt featured ten clues scattered about the fair grounds. Don’t worry, everybody got their fair share of fried foods and carnival games!

Clue Examples:
Friendly Ferris – Ride to the top of the Ferris Wheel and take a photo.
Tall Texan – Position your camera and take a photo next to the Big tex statue.
Fried Food Frenzy – The TX State Fair is notable for it’s less-than-dietary delicacies. Take a photo of 3 or more Fair fried foods together.

TX Activity Hunt:

From Unicorn Racing to two-stepping, this hunt had players completing TX-themed activities with a Munzee twist! There were 10 activity stations where players had to take a photo and complete and activity before they could advance to the next stop.

Clue Examples:
Unicorn Races – Find the activity station on the map. It’s near the parking lot. When you get there saddle up a Unicorn and hit the tracks. This one’s gonna be a photo finish!
Six Flags of Texas – Find the activity station on the map. It’s in the middle of the baseball fields. When you do the activity! 6 countries have had sovereignty over Texas in history. Choose the correct six flags and place them in the wooden Texas shape. Take a photo when you have the correct six!
Kickoff- Photo – ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?! Find the activity station on the map. It’s next to a light pole. When you get there line up the ball and kick a field goal. Be sure to take a photo!

TX Tupps Brewery Hunt:

After a busy couple days everyone took a break Saturday evening at Tupps Brewery in McKinney, TX. There were five clues scattered about the event including posing with MHQ staff members for a couple photos- and maybe a couple drinks as well.

Clue Examples:
Drinking Buddies – Take a photo with a member of MHQ staff.
Logo Logistics – Take a photo next to the Tupps Brewery logo.
Metalworking – Take a photo of a unique piece of metal art at Tupps Brewery.

Event: National Venturing Event – VenturingFest

Event Breakdown and Testimonial:

The Boy Scouts of America’s Venturing program used Eventzee at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia for our first ever National Venturing Event-Venturing Fest.

We wanted a way for our participants to be able to explore the Summit and interact with other participants and Summit staff members. A scavenger hunt was a great way for our participants to get out and explore the site as they looked for clues. We thought an electronic scavenger hunt would better meet the needs of our population, since most of our participants have smartphones and they are easy to carry around and would not get lost like a piece of paper. Our event was 6 days and our scavenger hunt lasted 5 days so we could announce the winner on the last night during our closing show.

Our participants LOVED the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt. We even had adult leaders join the fun and participate, too. This was our most popular event, with over 300 participants actively playing along. Throughout the week, countless youth and adults commented to our Venturing Fest staff about how much they loved the scavenger hunt and how much fun they were having. They equally liked the ability to explore the Summit and get to meet new people along the way, since some of our clues required participants to meet other participants and Summit staff members.

The app benefited our event in so many ways. First, it encouraged our participants to get out and explore the Summit. Many of them had never been there before, so this was a great way for them to see the different program areas. Secondly, this event encouraged interaction between our participants because they were working on clues together. This also gave our participants something to do in the evening when our program areas were closed, but, most of our participants were working on their scavenger hunt during all waking hours of the event. The scavenger hunt added another level of fun and interaction to our event, which was loved by all of our participants!

Event: SomethingInked Promo Seminar

Event Breakdown and Testimonial:

SomethingInked hosted their 5th Annual Promotional Products Seminar in Las Vegas and incorporated an Eventzee Scavenger Hunt for the first time this year. Centering around a conferencewide Summer Camp theme, the scavenger hunt encouraged players to interact with “bunkmates” as well as vendors and sponsors.

“Our attendees had a blast! It encouraged everyone to go to each booth and mingle more than they would have without the scavenger hunt. And, since it was heavily photo based, we have come away with a lot of great images of products and customers using products that we can use for marketing pieces throughout the year.

We also used it as a tool to find the most popular products from the trade show and to get people engaged with our social media platforms. Overall it was a really fun addition to the event and if we don’t do it again next year I’m sure we will have some complaints!

Know Your Hunt- Hidden Message

Scavenger hunts have always been a fun way to interact with others and support camaraderie, but we’ve moved past the limitations of pen and paper. Eventzee takes scavenger hunts to a whole new level by supporting worldwide events and new ways to interact with players. While Eventzee makes it easy to host your own scavenger hunt, it’s up to YOU to make it memorable. So if you’re considering putting on your own, here’s a few tips to get you started.

The goal of most scavenger hunts is to drive traffic to specific areas and get players to explore. While this holds true with Eventzee we also encourage our clients to use our tools educationally. QR Code hidden messages are perfect for driving traffic to specific areas and sharing information, history and more about the area the code is hidden in. Perfect for historical tours, campus explorations and more!

MessageHowTo

History Repeats Itself
Hidden Message tours are perfect for sharing information about the history of a city. Whether you post codes that link to the history of specific buildings in a historic downtown area, or you even about the business itself, Eventzee is perfect. These particular hunts are ideal for ongoing tours that people can join at any time and use to explore specific areas of their town or city.

Bonus Content
Hidden Messages can also include links to outside information like youtube videos, photos, contact forms, etc. Link to a video to have a virtual tour guide on hand at all times! Link to an image of a special discount code to bring business for shops and restaurants! Perfect for coalitions of small businesses to join together in a unique marketing experience.

Mystery Scavenger Hunts
Want to get really creative? Use the hidden messages as descriptions for clue locations to make scavenger hunts more difficult and inspire critical thinking. Essentially label all your clues as Clue 1, Clue, Clue 2, Clue 3, etc. and only reveal clue locations upon finding and scanning the next code. Once they find the current code the message attached to it would be how players find the next clue. Make them really work for it!

Creating Hidden Message Clues
Setting up Hidden Message clues is easy. You’ll add QR Code clues like normal, but remember that your Clue Title and Description will lead the players to the hidden code. From there you’ll need to click the gear icon to enter the individual clue’s settings. Then simply click on the “Message” section and type in your block of text.
