Utilizing a Scavenger Hunt App for Hybrid Halloween Events

There’s no doubt that community events have changed since the beginning of the pandemic. And while we’re on our way to regaining some or our normalcy, hybrid options for in-person and at-home events are the perfect way to make sure you keep your community engaged and having fun!

Whether you’re looking to spruce up your usual Halloween activities, or for a way for people to participate in the Halloween spirit from the comfort of their homes, Eventzee is ready to make this Halloween the best one yet for your community!

Playing in Person

Trick or Treat on the Street

Many towns have trick or treat options that involve local businesses, shops, and vendors. If your downtown is hosting an in-person trick or treat this year, let participants engage with the event on another level by using Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app.

Owners of shops and businesses can make it even more enticing by offering discounts to those who are participating in the event. For every location the participants visit, they can scan a QR code or submit pictures to earn points towards a prize!

Last year, Downtown Jacksonville, FL, launched a Halloweek event with the goal of bringing people back to the downtown area to engage with the local businesses. The hunt involved scanning at least 10 QR codes from participating businesses, and anyone who completed that challenge was awarded a $20 #DTJax e-Gift Card from the downtown association. With the event being a hit, it’s soon to begin again in the next few weeks.

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt in Town

One classic use of the Eventzee scavenger hunt app is to host a scavenger hunt in your town or community. Give clues to certain town-based landmarks, have people pose at their favorite shops and restaurants, and more!

For Halloween, use this type of hunt for a maze of haunted houses! Eventzee’s map feature can guide participants through a maze of different haunted locations. The more locations they visit and submit, the more points they’ll receive!

Tricky riddles for treats!

For a more advanced scavenger hunt option, engage your participants in a hunt full of spooky, tricky riddles! While playing in teams or individually, participants will have to decode messages and figure out the meaning behind the clues you put in place.

Playing from Home

Submit a Spooky Story

How creative are your participants? Have them engage with the spooky season to create their own haunted story. You can make them write the story based off of a place in your downtown or community, or just let them use their imagination!

As a bonus, give extra points to those who submit their stories as a video. Have them either act it out, or tell it campfire-style!

Throwbacks! Submit Pics of Costumes from Years Past

Halloween costumes have certainly changed over the years! Have participants submit pictures of themselves from Halloween’s past. For an extra twist, award a lot of points to an individual or team who can recreate the costume from stuff they have around the house!

We love throwback pics so much that this was a clue on one of our previous Weekend Warrior hunts! If you’re looking for more creative clues, you can find out our other Halloween Weekend Warrior hunts on our website!

Pumpkin Carving Contests from Home

A classic October activity – ask participants to carve their most creative pumpkin and submit a photo to the app!

Be sure to tell them ahead of time that they’ll need a pumpkin. Or, if you’d rather throw a silly twist to the traditional fun, tell participants to make a jack-o-lantern from a fruit or veggie that’s not a pumpkin!

Make it Sweet

Trick or treaters may be coming soon! Have participants gather all the candy they can find around the house and submit a photo of it! The participant with the most candy, or the most different types of candy, gets the most points!

No matter what kind of fun you’re having this Halloween season, Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app is here to make it the best event yet, whether hybrid, in-person, or remote. For more information and to get in touch, contact Craig Holland, sales@eventzeeapp.com.

Engaging Students on Campus with the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt App

Engaging Students on Campus with the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt App

The Eventzee scavenger hunt app is the perfect tool for allowing students to interact with school activities from the comfort of their own smart devices. Whether they’re first-year students who need some guidance, or they’re returning to campus for the new semester, everyone can join in the fun. By using the Eventzee app, you can show students around campus, announce homecoming activities, teach them school history, and more!

The Eventzee team realizes that planning an event can be daunting, so here are a few ideas to get you off and running!

GET LOST

Large campuses can be tough to navigate, especially for new students. Eventzee’s map feature allows you to guide students to various locations throughout your campus, allowing them to explore in a structured way. For students who might already think they know the lay of the land, this can be a great tool to show them places they may have never been before!

Using Eventzee, students can scan QR codes hidden at certain locations around campus to “check in” and receive points for each location they hit.

In recognition of the fact that some students might not be back to campus just quite yet, they can still participate in the fun from home! Tufts University used Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app during their spring reunion week, where the tasks could have easily been completed from home.

For example, one task remarks on a special landmark of Tufts University’s campus, but asks players to submit a picture with a local landmark to their own communities. Participation doesn’t always have to be on location!

DIVE INTO CAMPUS HISTORY

Who walked these paths before this current class of students? Every school has a rich history, whether big or small, waiting to be uncovered. Use the Eventzee scavenger hunt app to guide students to specific points on the campus. Are there fountains or statues of important figures? Who are the buildings named after? Where is the cafeteria? Where is the library?

Test student knowledge by including quiz questions here, or they can just pose for a picture with the landmark and submit it for points.

GET ENGAGED

Are any of the players “too cool for school”? Utilize the Eventzee scavenger hunt to get them engaged in school spirit!

Have them submit pictures, either individually or in teams, of them posing with the school mascot, showing off their best SWAG outfits, repping the school colors, and more. If students are playing in teams, ask them to create a school cheer and submit a video of themselves performing it!

In a recent event hosted through the Eventzee scavenger hunt app, Lehigh Carbon Community College tasked the students with creating a 15-30 second commercial for their college using video challenges. Among the other scavenger hunt challenges, students got to write, direct and perform in their own commercial that showcased how much they love their college.

FIND ALL THAT’S OFFERED

Students, both new and returning, tend to not know everything that their school has to offer. Whether it be majors, classes to take, or clubs and sports to join, there’s always something new and exciting to be discovered.

Students can check in to open houses that clubs and sports are hosting, post pictures of themselves participating in activities, and more to earn points.

GIVEAWAYS, GIVEAWAYS, GIVEAWAYS!

The best way to get your students excited to participate in a scavenger hunt is to offer an awesome prize for the winner, or for everyone who participates! While the prize doesn’t have to be anything big, awesome prizes could include school SWAG, campus bookstore gift cards, small tech items, and more!

Engaging Students on Campus with the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt App

5 Benefits of Using a Scavenger Hunt App for Your Next Fundraiser

Looking to spice up your next fundraiser event? Make it virtual! Whether you’re looking for a way to engage people who might be contributing from home, or you’re just looking for a way to make your annual event a little different this year, the Eventzee fundraiser scavenger hunt app is the perfect solution for fundraising.

Check out our team’s tips below for why we think Eventzee is the best solution for your upcoming event!

Raise Funds Through Hunt Ticket Sales

The point of any fundraiser is to ultimately work towards supporting a cause. With a fundraising scavenger hunt app, organizations can allow people to play for free and donate what they like, or you can request player entrance (ticket) fees.

Some organizations choose to allow players to participate in teams or individually, and have the entrance fee vary accordingly. Other Eventzee clients have added incentives for teams based on various fundraising thresholds including early access to challenges, bonus challenges and more!

Allow for Team Play!

With Eventzee’s unique team play option, organizations can choose to allow players to play individually or in teams of any size. All players can still contribute on their own phones to their team’s score.

One of the biggest challenges with virtual events is ensuring that all players are engaged. With the teams option, you can allow people to work together to complete a goal. Players can support one another in an effort to compete against other teams, or to win a prize at the end of the event.

In the height of the pandemic, and worried that they would have to cancel their fundraising event altogether, The Salvation Army of Buffalo created an amazing fundraiser using Eventzee’s fundraiser scavenger hunt app where teams of two were able to participate from the safety of their cars. These team members worked together as they traveled around Buffalo exploring arts, history, and more.

Make It Educational!

What cause or organization does the fundraiser support? Having donations towards a cause is wonderful, but what’s even better is educating people on benefits of the organization. Whether raising money for medical research, or gaining support for local youth organizations, fundraisers that educate players have a longer standing impact than those that just ask for monetary donations.

With Eventzee’s fundraiser scavenger hunt app, there are seven different task types to choose from when building the event. One of the most-loved task types is the quiz category. Test players’ knowledge of the cause they’re supporting by offering multiple choice questions. You can also ramp up the difficulty and use text challenges instead of quizzes where players must “write in” the correct answer. With quizzes and text challenges, players might end up learning something new about an organization they care about!

Allow People to Join the Fun From Anywhere using a Fundraiser Scavenger Hunt App!

Especially today, with many restrictions on gathering sizes and traveling, it’s important to allow players to have the option of joining in on the fun virtually. They may not be able to run around a campus and find specific hidden clues, but there are plenty of ways to keep them engaged and entertained, while supporting the cause, in their own homes and local communities!

Recently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass held their first-ever hybrid fundraising event with Eventzee’s fundraiser scavenger hunt app. The event, which is typically in person, gave players a timeframe to complete the challenges. Some challenges were available to those who were attending the event in-person, while others were for those playing from afar. The event was a hit and the organization was able to raise almost $50,000 that will directly benefit the youth of Central Kentucky.

Keep People Engaged and Motivated With a Prize!

While all players should be ultimately participating in this fundraising scavenger hunt to support the cause, there’s no harm in kicking it up a notch and motivating the group to get competitive with the end goal of winning a prize.

Prizes can be as small as a item of the organization’s SWAG, or something even bigger. Better yet, offer the winner the ability to have a portion of the amount fundraised donated in their name!

Eventzee is the perfect way to throw a fun and amazing fundraising event, and allows people to really become ingrained in the company or organization they’re supporting. As the most customizable option on the market, Eventzee’s team is eager to work with you to make this your best event yet!

1. Drive Revenue From Engaged Customers

Scavenger hunts are one of the best ways to get people out and exploring their surrounding areas. Driven by prizes and the goal of winning the competition, this friendly challenge encourages participants to visit new shops, cities, businesses, and more.

Recently, SenArt Films launched a movie premiere event using the Eventzee scavenger hunt app. The “Lust For Gold Treasure Hunt” had moviegoers stopping by landmarks and businesses throughout Tucson Arizona’s Mercado District. With prizes like $1,000 in cash, hiking gear, and more, this event quickly had teams engaged, exploring the city like they may never have before.

This hunt was free for the players to join, and they did not need to purchase a ticket to the film premiere later that day. The hands-on experience of a real world treasure hunt boosted exposure for the film and led to increased interaction with shops and restaurants around the city.

2. Obtain New Social Media Content

Let’s be honest, in the era of social media authenticity is celebrated. Stock photos may work for websites and brochures, but what’s better for your brand’s social channels than photos of your real customers enjoying themselves?

In one of Houston’s latest pop-up restaurant sensations, the Rusty Krab is an immersive, Spongebob-inspired dining experience, engaging people of all ages. The restaurant has daily activities, including a unique Eventzee-based scavenger hunt. In a location that’s already geared towards photo ops, the Eventzee virtual scavenger hunt guides players through tasks to have them pose and post their results to earn points. All scavenger hunt photo ops make for great social media posts and based on the challenge description you can get the exact content you’re looking for.

3. Increase Online Presence with Local News and PR Coverage

Another benefit of hosting events for your brand is the local news and PR coverage for your brand. Spreading the word about your event also increases brand visibility, aside from traditional marketing. By hosting an event that is free and open to the public you can raise awareness about your product or service through unique and innovative ways.

4. Increase Brand Loyalty

Finally, one of the biggest goals of every company is to gain and retain customers. Events are one of the best ways to create long-lasting bonds with your customers that will keep them coming back, even after the event has ended.

Having just recently launched their second Eventzee-based virtual event, Barnes Harley-Davidson utilizes the virtual scavenger hunt app software to engage their customers. Riders participating in the Squad Wars: Coast to Coast use the app to work in teams, visiting locations, landmarks and businesses throughout the U.S. and Western Canada.

The best part, the squads that end up ranking in top positions on the leaderboard when the event is over are awarded with custom squad helmets, custom squad jackets, and more.

Squad Wars: Coast to Coast is the perfect example of using company branding to host events, making it fun and memorable for customers to engage, even after their latest purchase or visit.

Utilizing Virtual Passports to Engage Tourists and Visitors in Your City

Utilizing Virtual Passports to Engage Tourists and Visitors in Your City

With vaccination levels on the rise, there’s no doubt that people have begun to travel more. In fact, studies show that over the fourth of July holiday this month, air travel levels reached record highs compared to pre-pandemic numbers.

While downtowns, both big and small, benefit from these visitors, making sure to engage those who choose to visit your destination is almost as important as getting them to come there in the first place. Small businesses, local restaurants, historic monuments and more, all benefit from an increase in activity.

SUMMERTIME ENGAGEMENT IN A COLLEGE TOWN

The city of Champaign, Illinois, for example, is an area that experiences the bustle of activity from its college-aged residents during the school year. During the summer-time, when those students travel home between semesters, there’s a brief lull in activity among the streets. However, with the local community coming out of the pandemic, Xander Hazel, Executive Director of Champaign Center Partnership, was eager to find a way to engage the local community and visitors to the area.

Their event, 13 Thursdays, allows businesses in the Champaign area to offer promotions and get people visiting local businesses and restaurants. Now hosted through the Eventzee Scavenger Hunt App, the Champaign Center Partnership team thrives in engaging their visitors and community.

“We highlighted all the business deals with QR code challenges (we call this the “business passport”) and included different types of challenges to provide fun scavenger hunt activities throughout the neighborhood,” said Hazel. “We also have giveaways throughout the summer to keep the momentum going and a grand prize at the end of the summer to encourage participation.”

The Eventzee scavenger hunt app is no doubt a fantastic tool when it comes to marketing your businesses and downtown areas, but it’s also a no-brainer when considering business logistics and environmental impacts.

PAST EXPERIENCE WITH PASSPORTS

Prior to using Eventzee, the Champaign Center Partnership team printed hundreds of business passports, or coupon books with advertisements, that businesses would physically stamp when people redeemed a deal. Oftentimes, people would forget their booklet and need a new one.

“We could give away 1,000 booklets, but we never knew how many people were actually using them,” Hazel said. “And then, we had to get the booklets back if people wanted to win prizes, so we had to take the extra step to establish drop-off locations. In 2019, the last year we did this promotion, we printed and distributed 1,000 booklets. Of those, we only got 6 booklets back.”

SUCCESS WITH EVENTZEE SCAVENGER HUNT APP DIGITAL PASSPORT EVENTS

Champaign’s experience with Eventzee’s scavenger hunt app has been much more successful this year. On top of reducing production and operation expenses, organizers were able to easily track player participation, communicate with participants in real time, and more. This year’s 13 Thursdays event has already seen greatly increased activity with almost 300 participants, and the versatility of challenge types has offered participants even more ways to play.

Whether looking to set up a citywide self-guided tour, drive traffic to historical areas, or increase visitor engagement for local vendors and businesses, Eventzee has a solution. The Eventzee scavenger hunt app platform is free for participants to download, and has the most challenge types offered on the market, including QR code scanning, GPS, photo and video upload, and more. Every Eventzee event is customized to the organization or company branding.

The Eventzee platform allows businesses to create private scavenger hunts in physical places such as malls, tradeshows, company events or campuses to create immersive brand experiences.  For more information about Eventzee, go to eventzeeapp.com or contact sales@eventzeeapp.com.
