CrimeCon Attendees Solve The Mystery With Eventzee Scavenger Hunt

CrimeCon Attendees Solve The Mystery With Eventzee Scavenger Hunt

In June 2021, the Eventzee team created and launched a special scavenger hunt for CrimeCon, a true crime convention in Austin, Texas. Utilizing Eventzee technology, Oxygen’s CrimeCon Challenge: The Hunt is On offered both in-person conference participants and virtual attendees the opportunity to test their knowledge of true crime, interacting with convention vendor booths or virtual spaces, and solving mysteries to win prizes!

There were two CrimeCon hunts attendees could join — the Austin hunt and the Virtual hunt. The former was for attendees at the in-person event in Austin, TX from June 4-6, while the latter was for those who had signed up for Virtual Access Badges

“We were excited to be part of an event as highly anticipated as CrimeCon,” said Craig Holland, CEO of Freeze Tag. “As fellow fans, our team enjoyed working with CrimeCon staff to create an event designed to engage true crime followers.”

Both hunts featured photo, video, text, and quiz challenges. They also featured QR Code challenges tailored to each event. Through text and quiz challenges, players were tested on shows in Oxygen’s roster, such as Cold Justice and Snapped, and also on more general facts relating to true crime. Many of these challenges also included clips from the popular shows using Eventzee’s video hosting feature.

Some text challenges also required players to unscramble certain true crime terms based on the challenge’s banner image.

Meanwhile, through photo and video challenges, players were invited to step into the role of detective, socialize with other attendees, and more. These challenges encouraged players to get creative and offered CrimeCon great content for sharing the convention’s experiences.

For those who love solving murder mystery puzzles, a special QR code game was created. Attendees were tasked with tracking down hidden QR code “fingerprints” hidden throughout the event space, or in digital spaces, in order to solve a fictional crime. As each code was scanned players were awarded “letters” in the My Badges section of the app. Each QR code revealed a new letter and players had to solve for the name of the culprit by unscrambling all of the letters.

Ipadpalooza 2016 Wrap-Up

Ipadpalooza 2016 Wrap-Up

ClwkqciVYAAyMC_This past week, The Eventzee Team (Dylan & Cody) headed down to the wonderful City of Austin, Texas for the 5th Annual iPadPalooza Conference.

IPadPalooza, deemed more of a learning festival than a conference, celebrates the cultural-shift iPads and similar devices have brought about in the education world. The event focused on creativity, social collaboration, engagement, and the compelling ways schools have integrated iPads into their classrooms and beyond.

As a sponsor of this year’s iPadPalooza Conference, Eventzee’s mobile based scavenger hunt app was used to host and run the APPmazing Race each day throughout the conference. We had a ton of players and teams from across the country compete in a variety of tasks in order to gain points and hopefully win some pretty sweet prizes. The teams did not disappoint and came ready to play each day. From costumed crusaders to high flying daredevils, the APPmazing Race players were all in it to win it.

Check out the gallery of photos here, but be warned there are a TON so it may take some time to load.

When it was all said and done, many teams and individuals walked away with iPad Pros, iPad Mini’s, YETI Gear, and an assortment of other incredible prizes all put together by Carl Hooker and the iPadPalooza Team. The Eventzee Team may not have walked away with any physical prizes, but we had an amazing time at the conference. We really enjoyed meeting many new people, taking selfies/giving out high fives, and showing off our awesome suits!

We would like to thank all of you who stopped by our booth, participated in the APPmazing Race, and those of you who talked to us just to find out where we got our suits from. It was an amazing week and we can’t wait to attend future iPadPalooza events.

Denton ISD | Event: Denton TIA “Technology In Action” Conference

Eventzee offered us another dimension of engagement with attendees at our technology conference. We were able to drive traffic to specific areas of focus at our conference, enhancing the experience for everyone involved.

We were also able to, through the use of photo scavenger hunts, gamify self-reflection about new learning by encouraging attendees to share their learning through pictures. That was a huge game-changer for some of our attendees.

– Ross Garison, Coordinator of Instructional Technology @ Denton ISD

Prosper ISD | Event: Multiple Events

Eventzee has been used in our 7th/8th grade ELAR classes as a semester review and to learn about an author’s life.  It has also been used by our middle school Photojournalism classes as they learn about the different photo composition techniques.

Our Fashion Design and Marketing teacher used it on a field trip to North Park Mall to assess student’s learning in a real world environment.  A 4th grade math teacher took his kids on a Division Hunt.  8th grade history used it to assess the understanding of the 7 principles of our Constitution.  7th grade ELAR took her kids on a mythology hunt.

Kids are engaged in higher level thinking skills as they connect their learning to real world examples.  Teachers can provide instant feedback.  It is a great formative assessment tool.  Teachers can differentiate amount student or group submissions based on level of understanding.

Region 10 | Event: 21st Annual Region 10 Technology Conference

The Eventzee Crew helped run the event since we had over 500 participants at the conference. They were an awesome crew with their fun, bright suits and amazing personalities! Our goal for this event was for our participants (Educators in the Region 10 ESC area in Texas) to have some fun mixed in with their full day of learning and for them to see how this type of technology integration could be used in the classroom.

From the feedback we received, many districts determined that Eventzee was something they could take back to their students and use in the classroom. Eventzee is a wonderful tool to use in both the classroom as well as a professional learning environment. Two thumbs up!!
